The Nordic Walking technique is a mirror image of cross-country skiing. The forward movement is created by a long, strong stride supported by active arm motion. There is a common misconception that Nordic Walking is just like regular walking, with poles as a stabilizer.

However in order to gain the full benefits of this new exercise a proper technique is essential. A long, rhythmical stride, long arm swing, the active pushing and releasing of the pole, active footwork and proper posture all combine to achieve the full benefits of Nordic Walking.
