What is Nordic Walking?

Nordic Walking was first used in Finland as a summer training exercise for cross country skiers in the early 20th century. The real breakthrough of Nordic Walking as a practiced exercise came in 1997, when sports medicine and leading fitness professionals worked with a Finnish company to develop the wrist strap system which makes the present day Nordic Walking technique possible.

Europeans adopted Nordic Walking as a favourite activity because of it’s time efficient, low stress total body workout. It is now one of the most popular activities in Continental Europe and one of the fastest growing recreational activities in the UK and USA.
